Sadds Mill subdivision quick installs
Ellington’s newer builds off Route 83 and around Sadds Mill are the fast EV jobs: modern 200A panels with breaker space to spare, attached garages, short runs. These go site-check to inspected install inside two weeks, and they’re the installs where a second charger for a two-EV household usually fits with simple load management.
Crystal Lake cottage capacity checks
A converted Crystal Lake cottage on a 60–100A service usually can’t take a Level 2 circuit as-is — the same service-size story as the lake’s generator and panel work. We run the load calc first; the outcome is either a load-managed 16-32A charger that fits the existing service, or a combined service-upgrade + charger job under one permit and one Eversource visit.
Farm and outbuilding charger runs
On the Somers Road / Route 140 farm properties the vehicle often parks at a barn or equipment shed, not the house. Like our Willington farm installs, the conduit run is the cost driver — we price trench, overhead, and barn-subpanel options against each other, and when the barn already carries a subpanel the charger can often land there directly.
What Eversource actually pays in 2026
The upfront Eversource charger and wiring rebate changed on January 1, 2026: it now goes only to households at or below 300% of the Federal Poverty Level and/or in a High Poverty, Low Opportunity (HPLO) area — either test alone qualifies — with Managed Charging enrollment required. Qualifying households can receive up to $1,500 total across the smart charger and/or the wiring upgrade together. Plenty of Ellington homeowners won’t clear that gate, so we quote the job at its real price. The part that stays open to everyone regardless of income is Managed Charging: up to $120/year (Baseline) or $300/year (Advanced), plus a one-time $100 enrollment incentive for customers who enroll without an upfront rebate — the $100 and the rebate are mutually exclusive. Amounts, eligibility, and terms change — confirm on the Eversource EV charging FAQ before purchasing.
Typical Ellington EV install cost
Most CT Level 2 installs run $800–$2,200 installed, and in 2026 most homeowners pay that in full — see the eligibility rules above. If your panel needs headroom first, we quote the panel upgrade and the charger as one job.
