Why Hire a Licensed EV Electrician in Connecticut

A Level 2 charger is a new 40–60A circuit, not an appliance you plug in. Here is what you get from an EV charger installer who does this every week.

CT-licensed master electrician

Family-owned and hands-on. Tyler Flanagan is a CT-licensed master electrician (E1-0209943), fully insured, and leads his licensed team on every job.

Permit pulled, inspection scheduled

Level 2 EV charger installs require an electrical permit in Connecticut. We pull the permit and schedule the CT electrical inspection as part of every install — you never file paperwork with the town.

Load calculation before we quote

We run a service load calculation on your panel during the free walk-through, so you know up front whether your existing service carries the charger or whether a panel upgrade comes first. No surprise change orders on install day.

10-year workmanship warranty

Every install is backed by our 10-year written workmanship guarantee, on top of whatever factory warranty your charger carries.

Level 1 vs Level 2 vs DC Fast — Which Do You Need?

Level 1 (120V)

3–5 miles/hour

20–50 hours for full charge

Fine for short daily drives. Not ideal for most EV owners.

Level 2 (240V)

20–30 miles/hour

4–8 hours for full charge

✅ The right choice for most homes. TJF Electric specializes in this.

DC Fast Charge

100–200 miles/30 min

30–60 min for most EVs

Commercial only. Not suitable for residential installation.

Frequently Asked Questions — EV Charger Installation

How much does EV charger installation cost in Connecticut?

A Level 2 EV charger installation in CT typically costs $400–$900 for the electrical work, plus the cost of the charger unit ($200–$700). If a panel upgrade is needed, that is priced separately. TJF Electric provides free estimates including a panel assessment.

Do I need a permit to install an EV charger in CT?

Yes — Level 2 EV charger installations require an electrical permit in Connecticut. TJF Electric pulls the permit and schedules the CT electrical inspection as part of every install.

Will my current electrical panel support a Level 2 charger?

Most modern CT homes with 200A service have capacity for a Level 2 charger. Older homes with 100A panels may need an upgrade first. Tyler assesses your panel for free as part of the EV charger estimate.

Which EV charger brands do you install?

TJF Electric installs Tesla Wall Connector, ChargePoint, Emporia, Grizzl-E, JuiceBox, and any other Level 2 EVSE unit. We also install NEMA 14-50 outlets that work with portable Level 2 adapters for any EV brand.

How long does EV charger installation take?

Most EV charger installations take 2–4 hours on the day of install. Permit approval typically takes 3–7 business days beforehand. After installation, you can begin charging the same day.
